Florida sightseeing by car is an incredibly interesting trip through the southeastern United States, full of new experiences and an unforgettable experience! The beautiful weather in the tropical state makes for a great road trip, and the variety of the huge array of attractions is amazing.
Florida is a very large state in the southeastern United States, located on the peninsula of the same name in North America. Peninsula stretches from south to north for 1200 km. Florida is a true paradise with a tropical climate, beautiful nature and beautiful beaches on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, which is ideal for vacations. Americans love to spend their vacations in Florida, going there regularly as a family.
Good to know: The most famous city in Florida is Miami, of which Miami Beach is a true mecca of beach, nightlife and entertainment (almost like Las Vegas, but without casinos and with mostly Latin American culture).
Florida what to see
Miami’s famous beaches, unique Key West town and national parks are in South Florida, while family-friendly attractions like Disney World, Universal Studios Orlando and other theme parks, and the famous Cape Canaveral are closer to the center. But that’s not all of Florida’s attractions.
Recommendation: It’s most convenient to travel around the state by rental car, because the distances between its attractions are quite long.

Florida is a large state, and in order to better see its sights on your own, it is better to rent a car
It is important to know: The roads in Florida are mostly all free. But there are also toll roads which are faster. They are called the Florida Turnpike. Almost all highways except Route 4 leading to Orlando are toll roads. There is also a toll road from Miami to Homestead and from Fort Lauderdale to Maples (Interstate 75). Toll roads in Florida are charged by distance traveled (6 cents per mile).
Interesting fact: If you travel the East Coast of the United States, not just Florida – as we did on our trip from New York to Miami – and come from the north, it’s worth knowing that you’ll get a warm welcome. There is a Florida Welcome Center on every freeway leading into the state, where you can stop, rest, and treat yourself to grapefruit juice, because Florida is a citrus state, as their license plates make clear – take maps and get valuable information about the state and its attractions completely free!
